Day 113 — Paul's Farewell: His Future (Acts 20:22-27) | August 16

Paul stands on the beach at Miletus with the Ephesian elders he discipled for three years, and he tells them where he's going next. Jerusalem. Compelled by the Spirit. Knowing chains and afflictions are waiting. The Greek word Luke uses pictures a man tied up and being led. Paul isn't strolling toward the next stop. He's being delivered. And he says he considers his life of no value to himself, not because he's reckless, but because he has done the math. What matters is finishing the course and testifying to the gospel of God's grace. He has held nothing back from these elders, no part of God's plan softened to keep the peace. This is what obedience looks like at the far end of a life well spent. A man walking into chains because the One who called him is worth it.
