"Your mind is for having ideas, not holding them." David Allen

Do you ever get tired of saying the same shit over and over again to someone? I think that happens to all of us every now and again.

After 14-plus years of coaching, there are definitely things over the years that I find myself saying all the time. However, I don't get sick of saying them because after I say them, the coolest things happen.

In this episode, I share the top 5 from that list of things and give examples of what I mean when I say them, plus the kinds of that tend to happen when I ask them:

  1. Get it out of your head. As David Allen says, "Your mind is for having ideas, not holding them."
  2. Say more. Such a coachy thing to say, I know, but I love it because it is so open-ended. In that blank space and emptiness after I ask that question and wait, people start talking things through, and it allows me to see the patterns.
  3. It's all an experiment. Things are way more fun and interesting, and you learn so much more when you can run conscious experiments, choosing to take the mindset of being a scientist.
  4. Start with what you've got. When you are starting something new or want to figure out how technology can support you in a different way or in a better way, I really encourage people to ask what is essential to get started and how they can use what they currently have so that they can get clarity on what they actually need.
  5. Give yourself what you need, however big or small what you need might turn out to be.

So, which one of these 5 things will you experiment with this week? Tell me all about it – go find the weekly shift post on Instagram or Facebook @theproductivityshift.

What is The Productivity Shift?

Have you ever noticed how most productivity advice doesn’t work for women?

That’s because you’re not a man who has a spouse at home who takes care of all the things. You’re juggling your business, your career, and your family. It’s a lot, and no wonder why things slip through the cracks despite your best intentions to get it all done.

When you treat everything as an urgent priority, you lose all sense of what truly matters. This podcast is here to help you change all of that. One week at a time.

Unlike other shows about productivity, only The Productivity Shift helps women in charge (in their biz, at work, at home, etc) take back their time and use it to make progress on what matters most to them.

Each week, Elise Enriquez, a productivity dork and certified life coach, guides you to redefine what productivity is to you. You’ll get strategies and insights you can implement right away. Lighten your load and focus on what’s most important so you can create a life and business that is meaningful to you.
