Speaker 1:

Do you ever have moments of self doubt or days when you feel lost in imposter syndrome? Maybe you are a Monday girl. You normally love Monday morning, but every now and then, a Monday comes along when it's time to get out of bed. And you know you gotta get up, but you just don't wanna. As a creative business owner myself, I get it.

Speaker 1:

Some days are harder than other days. There's a lot that comes with having a creative business. Today, I'm gonna show you how to remain productive and keep going on those days when you wanna throw it all away, but you can't because you built this creative business, and you're in it for the long haul. You know you have people to serve, and you can't give up. When you start to build belief in yourself, you can face a tough day with a good attitude.

Speaker 1:

So are you ready to figure it out together? Let's do this. Welcome to

Speaker 2:

the Contagious Victory's podcast. Each week, we talk inspiration, explore possibilities, and share insights from creative perspectives. I'm Tory Blackman, and I'm here to remind you that your purpose in life is to celebrate the victories because victories are contagious.

Speaker 1:

I heard this quote the other day, and I really wanna share it with you. A bad attitude is like a flat tire. You can't go anywhere until you change it. Your attitude plays a significant role in shaping your direction in life. Your attitude determines your direction, and we're never gonna be able to build a belief in ourselves if we have a bad attitude.

Speaker 1:

A positive attitude is a great gift to both yourself and to others. Attitude is everything. If you have a good attitude, opportunity has a way of finding you. After all, it's all about perspective and how you choose to approach challenges and opportunities. If you don't get that attitude turned around, it might hinder your progress and limit your opportunities that day, and no creative businesswoman or businessperson in general wants that.

Speaker 1:

Now having a good attitude doesn't just mean that you're cheerful. It has to do with the way that you talk to yourself and to others too. Watch your words. I like to think of it like this. There's plus words and there's minus words.

Speaker 1:

Plus words are positive words, words that speak life. Plus words are words that encourage, and minus words are words that can destroy. You have to understand that words, whether spoken to yourself or by others, are powerful, and they create the experience that we have. So it's really important that we watch our words. So the first step to building belief in ourself is acknowledging our mental attitude.

Speaker 1:

Don't believe that the whole day has to be ruined just because, you know, your mental attitude wasn't exactly the way that you thought it was gonna be at first. You still have the ability to take control and change it. Watch your words and try to use uplifting words that are encouraging, and do this with both yourself and others. I wanna shout, shout, shout, shout you out. Yeah.

Speaker 1:

Okay. No. Seriously. I wanna shout you out on the contagious victories podcast. Wouldn't it be so fun if all of a sudden I was, like, hey.

Speaker 1:

Yo, Lindsay. You're a superstar. Keep going, girl. Or, Katie, I

Speaker 2:

loved what you said the other day

Speaker 1:

in the contagious victories community. I think it would be be fun. So if you want that to happen, then do me a favor. Please, can you go ahead and just rate the show? It would be awesome if you gave it 5 stars.

Speaker 1:

But, yeah, I need more ratings for the Contagious Victories podcast. We've been stuck at, like, 11 ratings over here on Apple Podcasts for, like, a really long time. So, you know, my birthday was this past week, and I thought maybe you could give me a podcast review and then I will give you a shout out. How does that sound? Once you've got your mental attitude in check, the next step that I would recommend for building up belief in yourself is to do an environment check.

Speaker 1:

You gotta let the light in. So look around you. Is there any, you know, windows that you can open? Are there lights that you can turn on? Maybe there's a lamp that you usually don't have plugged in.

Speaker 1:

Go plug it in. Get a little light in. Nothing changes unless we do, and sometimes it starts with that environment. Even if it's a rainy or cloudy day, just having the windows open, It makes me a little bit more appreciative of the moment and definitely sparks up creativity, sometimes when I need it the most. Remember, environment does actually matter.

Speaker 1:

The third way to build up belief in yourself is to start advocating for yourself. Start looking for evidence to prove your case. Reframe that to do list. Instead of something you have to get up and do, use it as evidence to believe in yourself. Your to do list is proof that getting up is worth it.

Speaker 1:

You have people who are rooting for you. How do I know that? Because they have entrusted in you to help them solve a problem. By advocating for yourself, it's it's almost like you have removed yourself from being on the hook, and instead, you are playing lawyer presenting a case in your favor. Let me dive a little deeper into the example that I just presented to you.

Speaker 1:

Okay. It's Monday. You have the sniffles, but you need to get up and answer emails, but but you do not want to. So now what do you gotta do? Now you gotta become your own advocate.

Speaker 1:

Step into that role, that lawyer role, and using positive language, present a fresh case to your sniffly self. Maybe it sounds like this. Emails are helpful because I communicate to potential clients via email. The emails I have in my inbox prove that people are finding my business online and trying to contact me because they wanna work with me. Is there a possibility that I could have an email from a new client who is seeking my UGC and content creator services?

Speaker 1:

Well, that is certainly a possibility. I wonder what other possibilities are waiting for me in my email inbox. Do you see what I did there? So now the person in this example is feeling more curious about their email instead of just dreading it. And they are also advocating for themselves by presenting possible opportunities for their business, which very well could lead to feeling more hopeful and confident that day.

Speaker 1:

See? It's like a little mind trick. Start acting like your best self today, and that too you'll be in a year. Alright. So recap.

Speaker 1:

On days when you don't want to get up and go, you can listen to this podcast, but you can also do a couple of other things. You can have an attitude check and adjust it. Remember that a positive attitude can lead to growth. It can lead to success, but it also leads to fulfillment. So make choices that are based on self awareness because this can instill confidence and highlight our self worth and self belief.

Speaker 1:

We wanna build that up. Another thing that we can do and that's more tactical is we can look at our environment. If we're all snuggled up in our bed, then, of course we're not going to get up. But I like to have a designated workspace that I go to every day. So consider doing that for yourself.

Speaker 1:

For me, it really helps for that designated workspace to have a lot of light, preferably sunshine. If I'm not sitting near a window, then I definitely have a lamp on, and I'm just really in a bright space. That's very helpful, and it's definitely gonna change your mood. And seeing things in the light anyway is always gonna change your mood. So if you are feeling a little bit under the weather or maybe just hindered by self doubt, then try to get into a bright and sunny space.

Speaker 1:

The last thing that you can do to build up belief in yourself is become an advocate for yourself. Remove yourself from this situation for just a moment. It's really easy for us to get trapped in our own heads and just in a spiral of negative self talk. But by removing ourself from the situation, we can see it a little more clearly and find evidence of why we are the perfect person to do the job that needs to be done. All three of these tips are super helpful if you were feeling low and you need to build up a little bit more self belief, especially if you were just getting started as a creative business owner.

Speaker 1:

Don't let the imposter syndrome hit you hard. Don't overthink it, and remember these three tips. Alright. Well, that does it for today's episode. I hope that you found all of this information to be helpful.

Speaker 1:

And if you're not someone who has a funky Monday every now and then, then just store this in your back pocket and, refer back to it for later. But if it did help you out, I'd love to hear about it. Leave a little review in Apple Podcasts, and hopefully we can get those podcast reviews up. Alright. Well, that does it.

Speaker 1:

Thank you so much for listening, and I will be here next Thursday. I'm trying to get these out every Thursday. Hopefully, you've noticed, so meet me back here. Remember, kindness is contagious, so pass it on. Along with this episode, send it to your friends and family who could use a little pick me up.

That's what I hope this podcast space is for both you and me. Alright. Talk to you later.
