Living a Conscious Life: The Podcast

David Gerken is a writer based in Newport Beach, California. He played college tennis at Princeton University and graduated with a BA in History. After completing his MBA at Georgetown University, he worked as a legislative assistant on Capitol Hill.  After moving to Los Angeles, David was hired by Aaron Sorkin to serve on the writing staff of “The West Wing” for the 2002-2003 season.  The show won the Emmy for Best Drama Series for its work that year.

He left the entertainment business in 2018 to focus his writing on spreading meditation and mindfulness to a broader audience. He publishes his articles on Medium.com, where he is followed by 187,000 readers.  David’s goal is to persuade the millions of people in the Western world who are wary of meditation and mindfulness to develop regular practices and reap the profound benefits.

What is Living a Conscious Life: The Podcast?

Welcome to Living a Conscious Life: The Podcast, where we explore and discuss the importance of finding more peace, wholeness, and freedom in our lives. I’m Don Johnson, your host, an American living in Scotland.

Being conscious means being awake, being present. When we’re present, we can pay attention to what’s happening within us and around us. We can make better choices and be more effective at whatever we’re doing. Living a Conscious Life is about bringing more self-awareness into our lives.

And, for an even deeper dive, check out my new book, "Living a Conscious Life: How to Find Peace, Wholeness, and Freedom in a Chaotic World". It's on sale now and available wherever books or e-books are sold.
