The Drop with Danno on GFN 광주영어방송

We sang an Ode To Billie Joe to start & had two odes to Charlie Watts to finish tonight, with more funk, punk, soul, & rock than you can have at a funeral in any country. Rest in power to Charlie Watts, he will be dearly missed.

Show Notes

As broadcast August 26, 2021 with a boatload of room to stretch the legs on the podcast ride.  Tonight we paid tribute to Bobbie Gentry's "Ode To Billie Joe" to start off, which went to #1 on the Billboard charts on this date in 1967 for a four week ride at the top.  More importantly, we finished by double dipping with The Rolling Stones in tribute to drummer Charlie Watts, who passed away earlier this week.  The man was not the flashiest guy on the beat by any stretch nor the most technical, but he was always in the pocket to a tee and did what was required for one of the greatest bands of all time in his own way.  We also release our latest playlist in August's rendition of The Damyang Drop, so we covered the funkier & more soulful joints in part 1 & 2 for our Sampled funk & soul first hour.
