Growing Knowing

We tell people that Jesus saves us from sin - but have we stopped to ask what sin actually is?

In Episode Nine of The New Man, Sione explores sin through the reality of the new creation. The Law could reveal sin and describe righteousness, but it could not produce the life humanity needed. Jesus fulfilled the Law, dealt with sin at the Cross and gave believers what human effort could never earn: the righteousness of God in Christ.

Sin remains serious, but it is no longer the believer’s identity or master. At its root, sin begins when we agree with a word lower than what God has spoken and search outside Christ for what is already found in Him. Temptation is not identity, conviction is not condemnation and repentance is not an identity collapse. Grace brings failure into the light, empowers us to take responsibility and teaches us to live from the righteous nature we have received.

We do not live righteously so that God will call us righteous. We live righteously because He already has. Take sin seriously - but take what Jesus accomplished even more seriously.
