In this episode, I had the pleasure of speaking with Dr. Carrie Jones, a hormone expert who shared valuable insights about health and hormones. We discussed how hormones can feel unpredictable, like "herding cats," especially for women experiencing changes during perimenopause and menopause. Dr. Jones emphasized the importance of focusing on basic health foundations, such as sleep, hydration, and nutrition, before seeking quick fixes like supplements or medications.
When basic health practices aren't enough, Dr. Jones recommends lab testing to identify underlying issues that may be affecting hormone balance. She also highlighted the need for individuals to find trustworthy healthcare practitioners who resonate with them and can guide them through their health journeys. Ultimately, we agreed that while hormones and other treatments can play a role in health optimization, the key to long-term well-being lies in maintaining a solid foundation of healthy habits.
