Will cheap gas do it? Welcome to the Know the Difference Minute for Wednesday, April 27th. Big move from America’s largest retailer. Walmart is rolling out a program that shaves off 10 cents per gallon for Walmart Plus subscribers. In all, 12,000 Exxon and Mobile stations across the country are on board. Walmart Plus is their version of Prime. $98 a year includes free shipping on most items. The company doesn’t share numbers, but Deutsche Bank puts the estimate at 30 million subscribers and calls that an inflection point. A year ago, this didn’t matter as much. Now, as we all play the game searching for stations even 2 cents cheaper, 10 cents a gallon makes a difference, especially for lower income Americans.
