Don't Eat Your Young: A Nursing Podcast

Katie Walker saw the gap in mental health care and decided to take matters into her own hands. In today’s episode, Katie is going to tell us how she helps people with mental health problems and how she reaches out to the often overlooked frontline workers, including nurses, physicians, law enforcement personnel and veterans. Katie also focuses her efforts on athletes that sometimes need help with the stress and pressure they are under in performing at the top of their game.

Show Notes

Katie Walker has been a CRNA for the past 10 years. Although she loves giving anesthesia, she felt there was more she could be doing to help others. She decided to open the Revitalist Clinic. Her clinic offers ketamine infusions as well as a holistic approach to treat patients with depression. Katie’s clinic has psych mental health NPs & psychologists, and is working to add neurologists as well. She runs her clinic with a nursing foundation: by treating the whole patient, not just a diagnosis.
Katie’s work has shown her that there are many groups of people that are caregivers, but are often not supported in their mental health needs. Healthcare workers that deal with caring for patients, police, firefighters, veterans and athletes are often overlooked and under-supported when it comes to their own well-being. The Revitalist Clinic is based in Tennessee but soon will expand to a larger region. If you are dealing with burnout, depression, anxiety, PTSD or any other mental health issue, please reach out for help.
