Pure Victory Podcast

Often when we have porn in our lives, we are missing a true connection to others and God. Establishing a connection that is personal to us is a key component in living generally healthy lives. This week's episode explores various ways to connect to God that will brings satisfaction to our souls and leave us feeling content.

Show Notes

Welcome to episode #40! This week, Matt and Braden chat about the different ways we connect to God, and why it is important to understand this so that we can build into better health in our own lives.

Porn can cause an intimacy disorder, and that means broken connections
When porn is in our lives it twists and distorts the way we connect to others and often it robs us of any true and lasting connection to people. It also can stop us from connecting to God, and that will inhibit us from enjoying healthy forms of intimacy and will keep us stuck in the mud of addiction.

Learn to connect or re-connect to God
Understanding that we are all uniquely wired and that we all connect to God in specific ways will help us in knowing how to best connect to Jesus. While there is only one way to be reconciled to God, through Jesus, there are specific ways we feel most connected to God. In Gary Thomas' book: Spiritual Pathways, the specific ways or pathways that we connect to God are discussed and this is a great tool to help us bridge our understanding.

Lean into your own spiritual pathway
When did you feel the closest to God? What were you doing, what was the environment? Once we know the answers to those questions we can start to understand how we best connect to God. Some are wired to engage in solitude, some are wired to engage in the intellectual, others enjoy God's creation. While there are several ways we can connect to God, we suggest you start leaning into the areas that fit you best!
