The Vegas Golden Knights (29-21-14) came up short to the Edmonton Oilers (31-25-8), 4-2, on Sunday night at T-Mobile Arena.
After a scoreless first period, Edmonton took the lead early in the second on a goal by Trent Frederic. Vegas tied it late in the period when Noah Hanifin’s point shot was deflected past Connor Ingram. The Oilers pulled ahead again early in the third on Vasily Podkolzin’s wrist shot, and Leon Draisaitl extended the lead at 4-on-4 midway through the frame. Jack Eichel scored shorthanded to bring Vegas within one, but Kasperi Kapanen sealed Edmonton’s 4–2 win with an empty-net goal.
