Father Chris Alar, MIC, discusses today's Gospel reading about the laborers in the field (MT 20:1-16) and explains how God's Divine Mercy is available to all who seek Him with the right heart. Join Fr. Chris Alar, MIC, (Mass 8/17), as he reads St. Pope John Paul II's prayer (see below) to our Merciful Father, The Divine Mercy.
"God, merciful Father,
in your Son, Jesus Christ, you have revealed your love
and poured it out upon us in the Holy Spirit, the Comforter,
We entrust to you today the destiny of the world and of every man and woman.
Bend down to us sinners,
heal our weakness,
conquer all evil,
and grant that all the peoples of the earth
may experience your mercy.
In You, the Triune God,
may they ever find the source of hope.
Eternal Father,
by the Passion and Resurrection of your Son,
have mercy on us and upon the whole world!"
Twenty years ago today, on Aug. 17, 2002, Pope John Paul II entrusted the entire world to Divine Mercy during the 3 p.m. hour at the international Shrine of The Divine Mercy in Lagiewniki, Poland.
These difficult times demand that we turn back to the beautiful mystery of who God is and what it means to be His cherished children. Listen in to the daily homilies from the Marian Fathers at the National Shrine of The Divine Mercy, including Fr. Chris Alar, Fr. Kaz Chwalek, and many more. May they help you to live by God’s will that you may play an active and effective role in a world whose wellbeing requires authentic Christian witness!
