Youth Ministry Answers

Leading a student-led worship team can feel risky—you want meaningful moments, but you also worry about mistakes, awkward transitions, or things not going as planned. In this episode of Youth Ministry Answers, Keisha has a question about how to lead student-led worship teams. So we asked Jason Sivewright, from Kids Ministry Answers, to join Brooklyn and Damean to share practical strategies for building worship teams that prioritize discipleship, leadership development, and spiritual growth over performance.

QUESTION:
How do I navigate leading student-led worship teams? — Keisha

ANSWER:
In this episode, we’ll talk about how to...
  • Reframe your goal from building a great band to forming students who know how to worship
  • Invite students earlier than you think and look for character and potential, not just talent
  • Equip students through modeling, shared leadership, and meaningful discipleship in rehearsals
  • Empower and encourage students by giving them real responsibility and creating space to grow, even when it’s not perfect
