Satisfaction. Rest from striving. Comfort. Control. Contentment. We are all searching for these things.
And I think this is why we love money SO much. Because money offers rest. Money and wealth offer us rest from insecurity. Rest from discomfort. Rest from striving. If we can just get enough money, then we can rest. We can be at ease from worry and stress.
But here’s what our passage tells us this morning: If you look to wealth for rest it will only leave you restless. Don’t believe me? Keep listening.
