Reading Amos Chapter 8

Yahweh uses a basket of ripe fruit as an illustration of the time being ripe for judgement. He exposes the cheating money practices of the people of Israel which harm the poor. He talks about the sun doing down at noon. He says they will no longer be able to hear his word though they wander everywhere looking for it. Read from the World English Bible.
