In March 2020, Catherine Welch and her family left their lives in Southern California, on a 6-month sabbatical to travel through Central and South America. After arriving in Antigua, Guatemala on March 3, they found themselves in a precarious situation as the Coronavirus had quickly spread and was catching up to their exact location.
The pandemic allowed the 40-year-old entrepreneur and mother of four to create a new normal upon returning home. Together with her husband, they rented out their primary residence and fast-forwarded their dream of moving back to the Central Coast of California, where they attended college, to buy some land and reimagine life for their family.
Their property search led them to Windrose Farm. They currently run a farm stand, offer tours, host guests at their Airbnb, and grow their food and spirits label, Finca Los Agaves. In addition, Catherine finds herself driving up and down the coast to deliver fresh eggs and organic produce to Los Angeles restaurants and chefs.
Committed to her career in reproduction, Catherine continues to run a genetics lab, Sequence46, and various IVF ventures. She is passionate about her work and opens up about how she balances her multiple ventures.
In this episode, Nada sits down with Catherine to discuss her capacity for juggling varied endeavors. She shares how her education in Animal Science provided the foundation for buying a farm with her husband. And she opens up about how she and her husband manage contrasting work styles and make their relationship a priority.
Warning, you may find yourself tempted to book your next vacation at Windrose Farm after tuning in.

What is LIBERTY ROAD with Nada Jones ?
Pursuing your future doesn’t end at 40, in fact, it may mark the beginning of knowing who you are, what you’re capable of and what you really want. But knowing what’s next and how to get there can be a challenge—especially when old narratives play on repeat. I’ve come to believe that the best way to understand your possibilities is in hearing from others—what they have done and how they have done it.
LIBERTY ROAD is here to share stories so that you can consider your possibilities, pursue your purpose and move into your future with intention.
