Auntie Talk

In Episode 21 of Auntie Talk, Shera and Jennifer open by addressing the backlash from their previous conversations about sex, relationships, marriage, and expectations between partners. They defend their perspectives, discuss reciprocity and desire in relationships, and talk about the importance of being willing to have uncomfortable conversations about intimacy.

The Aunties then recap their Labor Day weekend trip to Lambeau Field for Notre Dame vs. Wisconsin. Their experience leads into a more serious conversation about college athletes, NIL money, pressure, mental health, faith, and the support systems young athletes need when they leave home. They question whether enough attention is being paid to the person behind the athlete, especially when 18 and 19-year-olds are suddenly balancing school, sports, money, expectations, and public attention.

Later, Shera and Jennifer ask a vulnerable question: What would they need to change to be viewed as wives by the type of established men they want to attract? From shorter nails and fashion to tattoos, self-care, social media visibility, authenticity, faith, and personal growth, they discuss the difference between changing yourself for someone and becoming the best version of yourself.

The episode also includes a serious discussion about Black women, Black men, resentment, family trauma, and the importance of addressing unresolved pain rather than projecting it onto an entire group of people.

Finally, the show lightens up with Ask the White Auntie, testing Jennifer's knowledge of Black culture, R&B, Black church traditions, usher signals and soul food before flipping the game and testing Shera on classic white sayings, country music and cultural expressions.
