Modern sidechain is felt, not heard. Subtle kick-triggered ducking (fast attack, medium release, ~2–3 dB GR) to carve micro-pocket without obvious pumping. Use ghost-kicks in breakdowns to keep motion alive. Harmonic saturation adds character: gentle tape on the mix bus, tube on bass, tasteful grit on percussion. Aim for vibe, not distortion. System translation separates pros from amateurs: reference on club PA emulations, monitors, earbuds, and phones. Match spectral balance to reference tracks; check mono compatibility for sub-region solidity. Master the science, then let your taste drive the final 10%.
