Week 7 Leader Guide: What Jesus Is Worth (Matthew 26:1–16)
For those of you who have enjoyed the music in the past few weeks, I've been making it with
Suno (an AI music app). If you'd like to make your own and submit it to the podcast, just email it to me at jbrowning@northcoastchurch.com. I can't promise to get any and all of your songs on, but I'd love to feature them to the best of my ability, especially if you and your life group all made them together! For more of the songs that I've been making with my group and family, search for "Hoi Lithoi" on your music app of choice (it's a very nerdy biblical Greek pun).
Welcomes leaders, to week seven and recaps Pastor Larry Osborne’s message on Matthew 26:1–16: religious leaders plot, a woman pours a year’s wages of perfume on Jesus, the disciples call it waste, and Judas makes a deal—highlighting that everyone met the same Jesus and decided what He was worth. I walk leaders through the group guide (warmups, optional kinship meal question, reading the three scenes, and discussion prompts about silencing, betraying, or extravagantly worshiping Jesus), warn about common discussion drifts, and encourage mirror-level application with specific weekly commitments, Revelation 4:11, and memorizing Matthew 26:10. I will exploresthe cost and origin of nard, note the woman uniquely anointed Jesus before His burial, equip leaders to address questions about the poor and church giving, I also suggest bookmarking Deuteronomy 15:11 and John 12:4–6, and affirm leaders that what they pour out for group is seen by Jesus and called beautiful.
