मूल्यं दुधस्य

प्रतिदिनं काचित् गोपिका साधोः आश्रमम् आगत्य अर्धलीटर्मितं दुग्धं मापकेन मापयित्वा साधोः भाण्डे स्थापयति । किन्तु आश्रमस्य पार्श्वे वसते ब्रह्माचरिणे दुग्धपात्रे अवशिष्टं समग्रं दुग्धं समर्पयति ।  वस्तुतः ब्रह्मचारिणे अपि अर्धलीटर्मितं दुग्धम् एव दातव्यम् । एतत् निरीक्ष्य साधुः पृष्ट्वान् किमर्थम् एषा प्रतारणा इति । तदा गोपिका अवदत् 'भवान् जपमालां गृहीत्वा मणिभिः गणनां कुर्वन् जपं करोति । अतः भवते मापकेन मापनं कृत्वा दुग्धं यच्छामि । किन्तु ब्रह्मचारी विना जपमालां सदा मुखेन नामस्मरणं करोति । अतः तस्मै मापनम् अकृत्वा दुधं यच्छामि' इति ।

Every day, a cowherd woman visited a sage's hermitage and measured half a liter of milk using a measuring vessel before placing it in the sage's container. However, she would give the remaining milk in the vessel to a young celibate monk living nearby. In reality, the brahmachari was also supposed to receive only half a liter of milk. Observing this, the sage questioned why she was deceiving him. The cowherd woman replied, "You chant using a japamala, counting the beads as you recite. So, I measure the milk precisely for you. But the brahmachari chants continuously with his mouth without using a japamala, remembering the divine name at all times. Therefore, I do not measure the milk for him and give it freely".

सम्भाषणसन्देशः इति संस्कृतमासिकपत्रिका (https://sambhashanasandesha.in) । एतस्यां पत्रिकायां प्रकाशिताः लेखाः, कथाः, बालकथाः, वार्ताः इत्यादिकं सर्वम् अपि सरलसंस्कृतेन एव प्रकाश्यते । तत्रत्याः “बालमोदिनी”नामिकाः बालकथाः अत्र प्रसार्यन्ते । अतः अस्याः शृङ्खलायाः नाम अपि “बालमोदिनी” एव । लघु गात्रं, सरला भाषा च कथानां विशेषः । प्रत्येकं कथा काञ्चित् नीतिं बोधयति । बालकथाः आबालवृद्धं सर्वेषां प्रियाः । संस्कृतेन ताः श्रोतुम् उपलब्धाः भवन्तु इति एषः प्रयत्नः श्रोतृभ्यः अवश्यं रोचेत इति विश्वासः । संस्कृतक्षेत्रे संस्कृतेन पॉड्कास्ट् क्रियमाणाः एताः प्रप्रथमाः कथाः इति सगौरवम् उद्घोष्यते ।
