Women Waken: Spiritual Healing for Trauma in Relationships to Shift from Codependency to Divine Feminine

There is no question that our world is rapidly changing in regards to accessibility and affordability of housing for individuals and families alike. Alternative options for living are needed more than ever and the necessity will only continue to increase. Cooperative Living patriots, Syd and Zach, join me on the show to share their extensive experience with and the benefits of shared living environments.

Show Notes

For many reasons, community housing can be a beneficial alternative way of living that can decrease loneliness, reduce costs, boost personal growth and human connection. Creating a more village or community environment is a healthy way to learn to work with others, understand boundaries, and develop communication skills. Clearly, I'm a big proponent! Which is why I was very excited to have my long time friend, Syd Fredrickson and her colleague Zach, on the show this week to share insights about the multitude of advantages for people and the planet to consider intentional communities.

On this episode, Syd and Zach share their personal experience and extensive knowledge about cooperative housing (co-living) and offer ways to explore a variety of approaches to living this lifestyle!

Syd Fredrickson has lived most of her adult life in cooperative living groups, both urban & rural, some of them identified as intentional communities. She has been a delegate to the FEC, a board member on the FIC and served multiple terms of service to the NICA board [see organizational resources below.] Seattle Cooperative Housing Network -- an informal Facebook group that occasionally hosts in person gatherings, and which Zach and Syd both are a part of -- is a spin-off of NICA.  Syd has helped start and advise several communities. She used to run a consulting business called Under 1 Roof. She now works as an Affordable Housing Community Manager.

Zachary has also lived most of his adult life in cooperative living groups. He plans events for the Seattle Cooperative Housing Network. He is interested in activism, walkable cities, and how technology influences society. He organizes the Seattle chapter of the Humane League and works for a small tech company.

What is Women Waken: Spiritual Healing for Trauma in Relationships to Shift from Codependency to Divine Feminine?

My name is Whitney Walker, welcome to Women Waken! I am a Licensed Mental Health Therapist specialising in substance abuse, addiction, eating disorders, trauma, and Spirituality. Over 10 years ago I walked into a therapist office for the first time because I realised that I felt incapable of handling life. I abused drugs and alcohol, had rock bottom self esteem, often felt suicidal, was very self destructive, and had no idea how to resolve what felt like a complete mess inside my mind and emotions.

After years of therapy, getting sober, and choosing to begin the journey of unconditional self love for myself, things started to change. My self esteem rose along with my self regard and kindness towards myself. I knew there was only one thing I wanted to do with the rest of my life; help others out of the place that I was in and start figuring out how we can end these cycles for good, for all of us.

Women Waken is building community and offering a platform for Women to come together who share a vision of creating a new way of life where insecurity, low self esteem, and self- destruction are no longer the norm. Where we are able to rebalance the dynamic between the inner and outer Worlds so that our ability to love and accept ourselves is no longer dependent on externals.

On this show, we speak to Women who are seeking to heal from traumas/habits/addictions that are keeping them in a place of disempowerment who are ready to begin aligning with their true self and are ready to let their light shine

I release two episodes a week, an interview and solo episode,

If you feel ready to reclaim your power and stand in your Divine light I hope this show finds you!
