Miami Rolls Pitt, UCF Stuns No. 2 BYU, Texas Survives Ole Miss

Week 8 of the 2026 college football season was something else. No. 2 BYU, one week after beating Notre Dame, lost 39-31 in double overtime at UCF, the third straight week an AP top-two team has lost to an unranked opponent, which hasn’t happened since 2007. Tennessee blew a double-digit lead and lost 27-24 at South Carolina on a 48-yard walk-off field goal, and Iowa lost to Minnesota 13-10 the same way. 

Texas built a 21-point lead and held off Ole Miss 34-27, Indiana won in Ann Arbor for the first time since 1967 (13-6 in OT), and Miami hung 52 on Pitt. Only three unbeaten teams remain, the fewest through Oct. 24 since 1977. We break down every big game, hand out the Week 8 awards, and ask whether the CFP race is officially broken.
