Show Notes

Part 2 of Lee Sankey's conversation with anthropologist, strategist and author Grant McCracken. They discuss the potential impacts of COVID viewed through  anthropological and cultural lenses on things like the family, the city and the world of work. Grant also flags some left-field signals that he is tracking, such as competitive charcuterie boards and talks about his latest work on the artisan movement which he describes as having matured into a transformative force.

Grant is a pioneer in culture as a strategic and driving force in business success. Not organisational or corporate culture but "big C" culture. He has taught at MIT and Harvard and consulted with companies such as Nike, Netflix, Oprah and the White House. Here he explains why culture matters to business, discusses barriers to the broader adoption of culture as a strategic input since writing his book "Chief Culture Officer" in 2009 and some of the things we can start doing to incorporate culture in our thinking.
