Open Up & Pour

In our latest lockdown wine confessional, Janet chats to Edwin Booth, CEO of Booths Supermarket, and Helen Nugent, Editor of Northern Soul. They talk about how great it is to be in the North, its food and wine revolution and how lockdown has affected their businesses. Some unusual confessions this time, including the revealing of Edwin’s extensive puppet collection – if only we had the filmed version to show you!

Show Notes

Edwin Booth is the 5th generation of the Booths family to run the medium-sized supermarket group - currently CEO and Chairman.  With 28 stores around the North of England, Booths is often said to be the “Waitrose of the North”. Originally a wine buyer, Edwin shares his passion for wine and food and talks about his pride for how the stores have adapted during lockdown. Helen Nugent is a journalist and the Editor of Northern Soul – a fantastic news source for food, drink, culture and business in the North. Having worked in London for the Times as a business journalist, she returned to her roots in Lancashire and explains why it is necessary to have a publication with quality journalism dedicated to the North of England. She also loves a good Chilean wine!
