Show Notes

Welcome to BuiltOnAir, a podcast and video series about all things Airtable. Each episode, we talk with someone active in the Airtable community to discuss their experiences and showcase an interesting way they’ve used Airtable in their work.

In this episode, we’re joined by Nicole Dyer, a professional genealogist, lecturer, and creator of FamilyLocket.com and the Research Like a Pro Genealogy Podcast. Nicole explains the ins and outs of genealogy research, and how she’s able to help people find out more about themselves and their family’s history. We get insight into the meticulous research she conducts, and how putting together the pieces of the past can quickly result in over a thousand data points. So, to ease the data collection process, Nicole uses Airtable to organize her extensive research. We get a rundown of a couple bases she uses to collect the data, and even how she begins to draw her conclusions. Nicole tells us all about the collaborative nature of the genealogy field, so it comes as no surprise that she’s added templates of her research log bases to the Airtable Universe.
