Mindy's Comedy Archives

New Yorker cartoonist and Late Show writer Asher Perlman enters the archives at The Bell House in December of 2019. He's back at The Bell House a month later and then... I don't see him again until June of 2024. Asher explains this gap in the archives, writing for Colbert, his pandemic project of becoming a cartoonist, learning a double-pump dunk, and much more in our episode.
Asher's on Substack. He has a podcast too!! (edited)

I am an Emmy-winning, WGA Award-winning, Peabody Award-winning comedian, writer, cartoonist, and best-selling author. Until recently, I was a writer/performer on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, where I famously couldn’t dunk a basketball. I am currently a cartoonist at The New Yorker, a performer with the Improvised Shakespeare Company, and a touring comic. On the road, I’ve played sold-out shows everywhere from iconic comedy venues like The Bell House to enormous performing arts centers like The Kennedy Center. If you’d like to see where I’ll be next, click HERE.

What is Mindy's Comedy Archives?

MINDY'S COMEDY ARCHIVES is a visual podcast featuring intimate interviews with the people who have been an instrumental part of the New York comedy community for the past 20 years. In each episode, our guest flips through a chronological stack of photos (starting with their very first "Mindy") using each image to unlock specific memories about their evolution in comedy. We'll touch on memories of early struggles and day jobs, to breakthroughs, friendships, and career shifts in an ever-changing industry.
