खड्गस्य गुणवत्ता

अङ्गारदेशस्य राज्ञः अङ्गदस्य पुत्रः अक्षयकुमारः । प्रधानमन्त्रिणा जीमूतेन युवराजस्य अध्यापनाय भानुमित्रः‌ गर्गः चेति उभौ आचार्यौ चितौ । भानुमित्रः सुन्दरः सम्भाषाणचतुरः उत्कृष्टवस्त्रधारी च आसीत् । गर्गः तु सामान्यः वेषभूषादिषु अनासक्तः मितभाषी च आसीत् । अतः राज्ञ्यै गायत्र्यै गर्गः न अरोचत । केषाञ्चित् दिनानाम् अनन्तरं जीमूतः राजानं राज्ञीं च आयुधशालां नीत्वा मूषातः तप्तायःपट्टिकां स्वीकृत्य दर्शयन् अवदत् 'खड्गस्य तीक्ष्णता अयसः गुणवत्तातः, निर्मातुः कौशलतः भवति । तीक्ष्णताम् एव अवलम्बते खड्गस्य श्रेष्ठता, न तु बाह्य सौन्दर्यम्' इति । एतस्मात् राज्ञी अवगतवती यत् बाह्यदर्शनमात्रेण कस्यापि श्रेष्ठता न परिमातव्या इति ।
