Sermons at Fellowship • Winchester, VA

As we begin examining the prophetic words and eternal focus of Jesus, known as the Olivet Discourse, we can feel hopeful that this focus can also be ours. Fear of death can be weakened. Perspectives and choices can be adjusted in order to be more confident when we stand before Jesus Christ. Finally, affections for the present world can be decreased and be replaced with a heartfelt longing for the King’s return.

The Olivet Discourse provides believers with more knowledge of God’s program and what’s in store for this world. But God’s intent is more than to know. The discourse is meant to point Christians to a greater eagerness and readiness for the Savior’s arrival. As God’s plan unfolds we can experience a deeper abiding relationship in Christ, “that we not shrink away in shame at His coming.” (1 John 2:28)
