उचितम् आचरणम्

कदाचित् कश्चन कृषिकः बुद्धस्य कार्यक्रमम् आयोजितवान् । किन्तु प्रवचनदिने सः कृषिकः एव अनुपस्थितः आसीत् । ग्रामजनाः कृषिकः बुद्धस्य विषये अगौरवं दर्शितवान् इति परस्परम् अवदन् । अनन्तरदिने सर्वेषां सम्मुखे बुद्धः कृषिकस्य अनुपस्थितेः कारणं यदा अपृच्छत् तदा कृषिकः अवदत् 'मम वृषभः नितराम् अस्वस्थः आसीत् । पशुचिकित्सालयं प्रति सः नेतव्यः आसीत् । अतः प्रवचनकाले उपस्थातुं न शक्तवान्' इति । तदा बुद्धः जनान् उद्दिश्य अवदत् 'किं कर्म आदौ, किं कर्म अनन्तरम् इत्यस्य निर्णये विवेचनशक्तिः अपेक्ष्यते । स्वकर्तव्यस्य प्राधान्यं चिन्तितवता अनेन उचितम् एव आचरितम्' इति ।

A farmer once organized a discourse by the Buddha but was absent on the day of the sermon. Villagers thought he had disrespected the Buddha. The next day, when Buddha asked the reason for his absence, the farmer explained: ‘My bull was very sick and had to be taken to the veterinary care. Hence I could not attend’. Buddha then told the people: ‘Wisdom lies in deciding what must be done first and what later. By giving priority to his duty, this farmer acted rightly.’

What is बालमोदिनी?

सम्भाषणसन्देशः इति संस्कृतमासिकपत्रिका (https://sambhashanasandesha.in) । एतस्यां पत्रिकायां प्रकाशिताः लेखाः, कथाः, बालकथाः, वार्ताः इत्यादिकं सर्वम् अपि सरलसंस्कृतेन एव प्रकाश्यते । तत्रत्याः “बालमोदिनी”नामिकाः बालकथाः अत्र प्रसार्यन्ते । अतः अस्याः शृङ्खलायाः नाम अपि “बालमोदिनी” एव । लघु गात्रं, सरला भाषा च कथानां विशेषः । प्रत्येकं कथा काञ्चित् नीतिं बोधयति । बालकथाः आबालवृद्धं सर्वेषां प्रियाः । संस्कृतेन ताः श्रोतुम् उपलब्धाः भवन्तु इति एषः प्रयत्नः श्रोतृभ्यः अवश्यं रोचेत इति विश्वासः । संस्कृतक्षेत्रे संस्कृतेन पॉड्कास्ट् क्रियमाणाः एताः प्रप्रथमाः कथाः इति सगौरवम् उद्घोष्यते ।
