Back to the office. Welcome to the Know the Difference Minute for Tuesday, January 24th. During the pandemic, working-from-home was hot. After that, remote jobs stayed popular. Employers with short staffs had no choice but allow it. That might be changing. More companies are calling employees back even if its only a hybrid schedule. During the Great Resignation, if a worker didn’t like those conditions, they found other work. But, there are fewer jobs like that now. Listing for fully-remote jobs are down 7% on LinkedIn—and about the same with Indeed and ZipRecruiter. Are we seeing a power shift? Hiring and wage growth are slowing. Layoffs are increasing. HR isn’t feeling the need to dangle fully remote to fill jobs. A year ago, fully remote workers were at 39%. Late last year, it was down to 26%. Only 22% expect that option in the future.
