Nuclear medicine tests accurately diagnose a variety of ailments such as heart disease, gastrointestinal problems, various forms of cancers, and other abnormalities. Patients are injected a small dose of a slightly radioactive material, or sometimes given an egg salad sandwich sprinkled with radioisotopes.
