राधानामजपः किमर्थम् ?

कदाचित् नारदमहर्षिः भगवन्तं कृष्णम् अपृच्छत् 'सदैव भवान् राधे! राधे! इति किमर्थं जपति?’ इति । इदं श्रुत्वा कृष्णः शिरःशूलस्य अभिनयं कृत्वा बलवतीं वेदनां प्रकटितवान् । वेदनायाः निवारणं कथम् इति पृष्टे कृष्णः अवदत् 'मद्भक्तस्य चरणरजसः स्पर्शेन इयं वेदना दूरीभवितुमर्हति’ इति । अविलम्बेन गत्वा आनेष्यामि इत्युक्त्वा नारदः रुक्मिणीं, सत्यभामाम्, अन्याः राज्ञीः च उपेत्य चरणरजः अयाचत । परन्तु सर्वतः अपि निराकरणरूपमेव उत्तरं प्राप्नोत् । अन्ते सः राधायाः समीपं गत्वा अपृच्छत् । सपदि एव राधा तद् अयच्छत् । यदा नारदः प्रत्यागत्य प्रवृत्तं सर्वम् अकथयत् तदा कृष्णः अवदत् ‘राधे! राधे! इति अहं सर्वदा जपामि तस्य कारणम् इदानीं भवता ज्ञातम् इति भावये’ इति ।

Once, Sage Narada asked Lord Krishna, “Why do you always chant ‘Radhe! Radhe!’?” Hearing this, Krishna acted as though suffering from a severe headache. When asked how it could be cured, Krishna replied, “Only the touch of the dust from a devotee’s feet can relieve this pain.” Narada hurried to Rukmini, Satyabhama, and other queens, but all refused. Finally, he approached Radha, who immediately gave the dust. When Narada returned and narrated everything, Krishna said, “Now you understand why I always chant ‘Radhe! Radhe!’.”
