Wilber, Nebraska is a small town nearly five-thousands miles away from the Czech capital city of Prague, but it is known as the Czech Capital of America. How did this small town become the epicenter for Czech culture in the US? And how Czech is Wilber?

Hana Waisserova is a Czech language professor at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She talked to us about Czech history in America and how their story plays into the story of Nebraska pioneer life. Residents of Wilbur in Saline County: John Kastanek, Steven Ourecky, Teri Shestak Larry Shestak, Larry Pracheil, and Fred Kozek also sat down with us to share what it means to be Czech in Nebraska.
