Scripture: Ruth 1:19-22
Sermon: What Is in a Name?
When Naomi arrives in Bethlehem she tells her friends, “Call me no longer Naomi,” which means pleasant, “Call me Mara,” which means bitter. And her bitterness is with God. Interestingly, the story and her community keep calling her pleasant even when she wasn’t. Sometimes the community holds our identity for us.
