Reading 1 Kings Chapter 1

Adonijah tries to take over as king, but Nathan the prophet helps Bathsheba motivate King David to follow through with proclaiming Solomon as the next king. There is a lot of pomp and circumstance, resulting in Adonijah's people abandoning him and Adonijah fleeing for his life to the horns of the altar. Solomon extends him mercy and tells him to go home.
