An Automated External Defibrillator, or AED, can be a lifesaving device for someone experiencing sudden cardiac arrest. In this episode of the FDNY Smart Podcast for Kids!, Host EMT Sarah McShane and student co-host Chloe, a 4th grader from Brooklyn, talk about what an AED looks like, how it is used and how to find one. With help from EMT Elvis Velez of the FDNY Mobile CPR unit, we also discuss how this small, portable, easy-to-use medical device, when coupled with hands-only CPR, can save lives. This podcast is brought to you with support from the FDNY Foundation and its Partners.
