The GEO Show

Welcome to episode 33 of The GEO Show, the briefing on generative engine optimization, LLM citations, and AI search visibility. Brought to you by GEOforge.
In this episode, Paris Childress, founder of Hop AI and co-founder of GEOforge, debates social media's influence on GEO with co-host Simon Young of Stitch. Live SiteForge filters show LinkedIn and YouTube dominating social citations while Facebook, Instagram, and X lag, and ChatGPT versus Google AI Overviews still share almost zero overlapping citations.

In this episode:

๐Ÿ”Ž Does social media influence GEO?
Simon opens skeptical: no hard proof yet. Paris notes LinkedIn articles already appearing as citations. They open SiteForge Discovery on GEOforge's ~33,000 citation sources to test the question live.

๐Ÿ’ผ LinkedIn: ~1,200 citation sources, mostly Pulse
Filter to LinkedIn: ~1,198 unique pages. Vast majority are Pulse articles. That is why GEOforge Daily ships as LinkedIn articles: inbox reach plus citation surface.

๐Ÿ“ LinkedIn posts cite too
Posts are fewer than articles but still significant. Company posts (e.g. AthenaHQ) and personal-profile posts both appear. Paris had assumed ChatGPT could not reach posts without a logged-in feed; the data says otherwise.

๐Ÿ“Š Engagement vs citation: open study
Simon asks whether cited posts are high-engagement influencer posts. Paris commits to an MCP analysis on the GEOforge DB: correlation between LinkedIn post engagement and citation rate, report next session.

โš–๏ธ Relevancy vs social proof
Primary should be exact answer to the prompt, even from obscure authors. Some social validation (likes/comments) may still be required to avoid zero-engagement spam. Working model: relevancy first, validation second.

๐Ÿ“˜ Facebook: only ~76 sources
Against ~1,200 LinkedIn, Facebook returns ~76. Mostly company pages (Neil Patel, Semrush, Searchable) plus public groups. Private groups are not crawlable; public groups are the only Facebook path that can feed citations.

โ–ถ๏ธ YouTube wins: ~1,944 citations
Simon takes over 1,200; Paris under. Result: ~1,944 YouTube citations. YouTube dominates Google AI Overviews; LinkedIn is #1 social for ChatGPT B2B. Neither can be ignored.

๐Ÿ”€ Near-zero overlap across engines
Same prompt into ChatGPT vs Google AI Overviews often yields zero shared citations. AI Overviews lean YouTube; ChatGPT leans Reddit/LinkedIn. Client example: ~50% SOV in AI Overviews vs ~11% in ChatGPT. Blended SOV is almost meaningless.

๐• X / Twitter: effectively out
x.com domain filter polluted by substring matches (e.g. Wix). Almost no real tweet URLs. Paris: X largely blocks AI crawlers and keeps data for Grok. Not a B2B GEO pillar.

๐Ÿ“ธ Instagram: ~180, all Reels
~180 sources, every one a Reel. Likely Google AI Overviews, not ChatGPT. Video surface, not a LinkedIn-class B2B citation channel. Simon notes GEO Show cited as a strong source (eps 14 & 19) in a prior share.

โœ… Interim conclusion
Social influences GEO as a strong offsite signal; LinkedIn + YouTube dominate. Signals are manipulable. LinkedIn articles = indexable UGC URLs; title and URL SEO still matter.

๐Ÿ” Listicle swap + LinkedIn republish test
Breakout GEO platforms page not citing yet. Plan: identical LinkedIn article + YouTube embed to juice social signals on a stronger domain surface. GEOforge Daily already embeds episode video via Grok bot.

๐Ÿค– Grok bots, HARO, PR automation
~20 bots. Daily HARO drafts for tech/business journalist queries. PR outreach automation; Simon's stack booked a podcast for a client untouched.

๐ŸŽ™๏ธ Particle Radar podcast transcript search
particle.pro Radar finds episodes mentioning GEO / AI search in transcripts. Thousands of pitch targets; GEO Show not listed yet in free view. Podcast โ†’ social proof โ†’ citations.

๐Ÿงฉ Exact-prompt stack needs information gain
Podcast title + YouTube title + LinkedIn article + site page matching the prompt is GEO keyword stuffing and may win exact-passage retrieval. Missing ingredient: information gain. Idea: ContentForge video-script format from BaseForge knowledge for Stitch.

๐Ÿงช Homework: zero-SOV Stitch video + engagement study
Test a Stitch prompt with zero SOV (e.g. Twilio WhatsApp alternatives): publish high-info-gain YouTube video. Paris: ContentForge video-script feature + LinkedIn engagement-to-citation study. Check-in next week; bet AI Overviews may surface exact-title video in days.

๐Ÿ’ฌ Question: If LinkedIn and YouTube dominate social GEO citations in your category, are you still spreading B2B effort across Facebook, Instagram, and X as if they were equal?
