Queens, badasses, and other heroines unite. We're discussing our fave woman characters in video games – specifically, our fave protagonists. We start by discussing some recent numbers released by Sony about an increase in female ownership of PS4 and PS5s. From there, after several interruptions from Matt, Marissa finally asks the question of this week's podcast: who is your fave female protagonist in a video game?
Matt starts us off by talking about Celeste, a video game that discusses Madeline's journey to the top of a mountain. From there, Sacco jumps into the world of Mirror's Edge, discussing the adventures of Faith Connors. Matt brings it back to another badass heroine of Lara Croft, who brings a bit of emotional realism into the game. Marissa builds off the Lara Croft example by bringing up Ellie, one of The Last of Us Part II protagonists.
Marissa continues on to discuss Life Is Strange and Life Is Strange: Before The Storm, bringing up two amazing characters, Max and Chloe, who are each the protagonists of their own game. The conversation goes into the punk rock beauty of Chloe – and briefly devolves into Marissa tries to convince Matt to play Life Is Strange.
Matt goes on to discuss Chell from Portal, Samus from Metroid, and Princess Zelda from The Legend of Zelda. Sacco uses this as an opportunity to remind everyone that Halo does in fact have a well-written story to it and mentions Miranda from Halo 3.
