On today’s episode is Richard Zeifman, who is a PhD student in Clinical Psychology at Toronto Metropolitan University. His research focuses on enhancing mental disorder treatments by integrating evidence-based psychological treatments with pharmacological ones, such as MDMA. He recently authored a scientific paper that examined how ayahuasca use influenced suicidal thoughts among people with depression. We discuss how mental disorders could be treated with psychedelic drugs, the barriers to studying and treating individuals using these drugs, and the promise of research in this area.
