उपहारत्रयम्

कस्मिंश्चित् उदारचरिते राजनि प्रजाजनाः विशेषादरवन्तः आसन् । तस्मिन् राज्ये कश्चन निन्दाशीलः जनः अपि आसीत् । राजा एतत् ज्ञात्वा कदाचित् गोधूमपूर्णम् एकं स्यूतम्, एकं फेनकम्, एकं खण्डशर्करायुक्तं स्यूतं च निन्दकाय प्रेषितवान् । सः सन्तुष्टः निन्दकः अचिन्तयत् 'मम योग्यताम् अभिज्ञाय आदरार्थम् एतानि वस्तूनि महाराजेन प्रेषितानि' इति । किन्तु यदा तस्य सुहृत् 'एतानि उपायनानि राज्ञा विशेषाभिप्रायेण प्रेषितानि सन्ति' इति उक्त्वा तेषाम् अभिप्रायान् अकथयत् तदा सः निन्दकः स्वस्य व्यवहारं स्मरन् महतीं लज्जाम् अनुभूतवान् ।

In a certain kingdom, the people greatly respected their noble king. Yet among them lived a man fond of criticism. Learning of this, the king once sent him three gifts: a sack of wheat, a piece of cloth, and a bag of sugar. The critic, pleased, thought the king had recognized his worth. But when a friend explained the deeper meaning behind these gifts, the critic realized they symbolized the flaws in his behavior. Remembering his own conduct, he felt deep shame.

सम्भाषणसन्देशः इति संस्कृतमासिकपत्रिका (https://sambhashanasandesha.in) । एतस्यां पत्रिकायां प्रकाशिताः लेखाः, कथाः, बालकथाः, वार्ताः इत्यादिकं सर्वम् अपि सरलसंस्कृतेन एव प्रकाश्यते । तत्रत्याः “बालमोदिनी”नामिकाः बालकथाः अत्र प्रसार्यन्ते । अतः अस्याः शृङ्खलायाः नाम अपि “बालमोदिनी” एव । लघु गात्रं, सरला भाषा च कथानां विशेषः । प्रत्येकं कथा काञ्चित् नीतिं बोधयति । बालकथाः आबालवृद्धं सर्वेषां प्रियाः । संस्कृतेन ताः श्रोतुम् उपलब्धाः भवन्तु इति एषः प्रयत्नः श्रोतृभ्यः अवश्यं रोचेत इति विश्वासः । संस्कृतक्षेत्रे संस्कृतेन पॉड्कास्ट् क्रियमाणाः एताः प्रप्रथमाः कथाः इति सगौरवम् उद्घोष्यते ।
