All Things MMA on Scoreline.ie

It's all about nutrition this week as we begin a series with performance nutritionist Kilian Doyle, focusing on nutrition for combat sports and gearing up for fight camp.

Show Notes

If you've ever been curious about the place of nutrition in combat sports, wonder no more.

This week's All Things MMA sees Kilian Doyle of KD Athletic Performance join the conversation. A graduate of IT Carlow's strength and conditioning programme, Kilian's been working as a performance nutritionist with elite athletes in combat sports and other fields for a number of years both in Ireland and overseas.

As it happens, he's also been working with co-host Myles Price on his fight camp nutrition and overall strength and condition to see him through his training and preparation, including his appearances in recent years for Brave CF and Bellator.

Over the course of a half-hour you'll hear about
  • Kilian's background in nutrition and approach to nutrition for combat sports
  • The impact a focus on nutrition has had on Myles both in and out of training
  • How a fight camp works when it comes to food, nutrition and peaking at the right time
  • Weight cuts, their merits and getting to hit that championship weight limit
  • Re-hydration - what comes after the weight cut
  • Getting the right fuel at the right time for the right activity
  • Peaking for particular training sessions while going in depleted for others
  • and plenty more
It's the first in a series of chats on the topic and we'll be looking forward to catching up with Kilian again in a few weeks.
