Don’t Chance it. Change it.
Sovereign - God has absolute right to do all things according to his own good pleasure.
God’s sovereign plan involves our involvement.
1. We facilitate change with our words
Genesis 17:2 I will make a covenant with you, by which I will guarantee to give you countless descendants.
Genesis 17:4-5 “This is my covenant with you: I will make you the father of a multitude of nations! What’s more, I am changing your name. It will no longer be Abram. Instead, you will be called Abraham, for you will be the father of many nations.
Genesis 17:15-16 Then God said to Abraham, “Regarding Sarai, your wife—her name will no longer be Sarai. From now on her name will be Sarah. And I will bless her and give you a son from her! Yes, I will bless her richly, and she will become the mother of many nations. Kings of nations will be among her descendants.”
Abram = father of many
Abraham = father of many NATIONS
Sarai = my lady or my princess
Sarah = THE princess of a multitude
Genesis 17:17 Lol. lol. lol.
Romans 4:17-18 Abraham was first named “father” and then became a father because he dared to trust God to do what only God could do: raise the dead to life, with a word make something out of nothing. When everything was hopeless, Abraham believed anyway, deciding to live not on the basis of what he saw he couldn’t do but on what God said he would do
What is NOT in your life right now- that God has promised you?
2. We facilitate change through prayer
James 5:17-18 Elijah was a man with a nature like ours [with the same physical, mental, and spiritual limitations and shortcomings], and he prayed intensely for it not to rain, and it did not rain on the earth for three years and six months. Then he prayed again, and the sky gave rain and the land produced its crops [as usual].
