Price of Admission

In this episode, we’re joined by John Chan. John is currently based in NYC, working as a Program Manager with Google for Startups, a role he’s taken to heart with a mission to level the playing field for founders from underrepresented backgrounds all over the world.
Despite a series of surgeries that threatened to slow him down, John keeps his spirit and body active with walking, yoga, and surfing. His passion for mentorship, especially for military veterans transitioning into business school, tech, or startups, keeps him busy in his spare time.  (Link to his LinkedIn article on this subject here - https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/help-me-you-7-tips-transitioning-vets-make-most-john-chan/ )
Raised in Pleasant Hill, CA, John’s journey took him through a wealth of stories to share about his experiences, especially from his time in business school and his transition into the tech industry. His persistence in navigating job applications is nothing short of inspiring.
In our conversation, John opens up about the importance of staying connected with people. He also talks about dealing with imposter syndrome and learning to take it easy on oneself.
John’s “Price of Admission” is the realization that “It’s all work,” (and if you're lucky, that work is enjoyable) whether it’s about career progression, self-improvement, or maintaining and improving relationships.
