Then be ready to answer the following: 1. 1 John was written so believers might know they have eternal life (1 John 5:13). How does John give assurance, and what does he mean by the repeated tests of obedience, love, and right belief? 2. Both 1 John and 2 John emphasize walking in truth and love. How do these two themes fit together, and why was John so insistent that the church hold them tightly side by side? 3. “In 2 John, believers are warned not to welcome or support false teachers. How should we apply that today in a way that’s faithful to John’s warning but still models Christlike hospitality?
