Decarb Connect

Alex Cameron, Founder of Decarb Connect talks with Emmanuel Brutin, Public Affairs Director, Cembureau.
The EU Green deal announced a big ambition to deliver net zero by 2050. But what does this mean for hard to abate sectors, especially cement and concrete? Alex and Emmanuel discuss carbon border taxes, the challenges for those non-coastal sites without access to CCUS clusters, the pursuit of commercial-scale tech and more.

Show Notes

The EU Green Deal maps out an ambitious route to carbon neutrality for all companies and countries in the EU. But how should industry respond? Alex talks with Emmanuel Brutin, the Director of Public Affairs at the pan-european Cembureau to explore their newly revised roadmap for the cement and concrete sectors.

We discuss issues including the development of a European CO2 transportation network, the possibility for cement to decrease co2 from energy usage by using more non-recyclable waste and biomass - and how the cement and concrete sector can drive the industrial circular economy. Also up for discussion are low carbon/carbon neutral cement products and the route to getting more of these used in place of carbon-intensive product.

This episode is for you if you're curious about policy, are considering investment in low carbon cement or technologies - or if you're an industrial wondering how other sectors are seeking to deliver on critical co2 targets.
