So we've been looking at the book of Hebrews, 00:02:35.814 --> 00:02:40.134 and the title for this year's messages is the object of our faith and the 00:02:40.134 --> 00:02:43.434 idea that the book of Hebrews is all about Jesus. 00:02:43.454 --> 00:02:44.270 But the truth is, 00:02:44.270 --> 00:02:48.836 is that all of scriptures about Jesus and what the Old Testament does is 00:02:48.836 --> 00:02:50.204 point to Jesus, 00:02:50.324 --> 00:02:54.188 everything to do with the covenant and the prophets and the priests and 00:02:54.188 --> 00:02:56.324 the sacrificial system and the levitical law. 00:02:56.324 --> 00:02:58.404 And all of it points to Jesus. 00:02:58.404 --> 00:03:02.396 And what we see in the New Testament is the fulfillment of what God has 00:03:02.396 --> 00:03:03.716 promised and pointed to. 00:03:03.732 --> 00:03:05.532 And we see the gospels and Jesus, 00:03:05.532 --> 00:03:09.380 and then we see the letters and the body of Christ and how it all moves 00:03:09.380 --> 00:03:12.812 forward. And then the book of Hebrews comes and just sort of brings out 00:03:12.812 --> 00:03:18.664 the details of both the Old Testament promise and the New Testament 00:03:18.744 --> 00:03:20.768 fulfillment. And we see it over and over. 00:03:20.768 --> 00:03:22.000 And I said this in the very beginning. 00:03:22.000 --> 00:03:24.640 The book of Hebrews is all about Jesus. 00:03:25.064 --> 00:03:28.672 And so what the writer of Hebrews has undertaken to do is to make the 00:03:28.672 --> 00:03:30.024 case right, 00:03:30.144 --> 00:03:35.176 to pull all of evidence from the Old Testament and to pull all of the 00:03:35.200 --> 00:03:39.416 fulfillment from the New Testament and bind it together in this book, 00:03:39.480 --> 00:03:41.104 these 13 chapters, 00:03:41.184 --> 00:03:43.124 to give us this, 00:03:44.654 --> 00:03:45.470 this case. 00:03:45.542 --> 00:03:50.486 But this undeniable realization that God has accomplished something, 00:03:50.550 --> 00:03:55.166 going all the way back to creation and the promise of the seed of woman 00:03:55.166 --> 00:03:57.158 who would defeat Satan, 00:03:57.246 --> 00:03:57.906 you see, 00:03:57.982 --> 00:04:02.566 and bringing that case all the way through the text of the Bible. 00:04:02.750 --> 00:04:06.380 And today we're gonna spend a few minutes in a prophet. 00:04:06.414 --> 00:04:08.318 We're gonna look at Jeremiah a little bit today, 00:04:08.318 --> 00:04:11.918 because it's the text that is quoted in our section this morning. 00:04:11.918 --> 00:04:13.822 So I am reading from Hebrews, 00:04:13.822 --> 00:04:14.422 chapter eight, 00:04:14.422 --> 00:04:15.914 verses 713. 00:04:18.534 --> 00:04:19.342 Here we go. 00:04:19.342 --> 00:04:22.354 For if that first covenant had been faultless, 00:04:23.134 --> 00:04:26.134 Because remember last week, 00:09:20.610 --> 00:09:23.554 that was one of the lines in there that says the first tabernacle, 00:09:23.554 --> 00:09:24.754 the earthly tabernacle, 00:09:24.794 --> 00:09:26.574 was a shadow of. 00:09:27.434 --> 00:09:30.250 Right, the heavenly tabernacle. 00:09:30.362 --> 00:09:33.058 So what we're doing is theme wise, 00:09:33.106 --> 00:09:38.386 the thematic sort of outline of this is the case for Christ, 00:09:38.490 --> 00:09:39.774 his priesthood, 00:09:41.554 --> 00:09:47.474 the holiest place where Christ passed into to offer the sacrifice for our 00:09:47.514 --> 00:09:49.962 sin.
