Houston's First Baptist Church

Can a church be doctrinally correct, active in ministry, and still be drifting away from Jesus?

In this message from Revelation 2:1–7, part of Dr. John Bisagno's verse-by-verse study of Revelation, he examines Christ's letter to the church at Ephesus—a church known for its hard work, perseverance, and commitment to sound doctrine. Yet despite its many strengths, Jesus identifies a serious problem: they had left their first love.

Drawing from the history of Ephesus and the remarkable beginnings of the Ephesian church, Dr. Bisagno explores how believers can remain busy with Christian activity while slowly losing the passion, affection, and devotion they once had for Christ. This message serves as both a warning and an invitation to return to a vibrant relationship with Jesus before spiritual coldness leads to deeper decline.

Through Christ's call to remember, repent, and return, believers are challenged to examine their own hearts and rediscover the love that first drew them to the Savior.
