Mental Status

In this episode, we explore the unhelpful thoughts & beliefs that can contribute to burnout, and Meg offers some positive reframes thought challenges—because why wouldn't she?

Show Notes

In this episode, we explore some of the more common unhelpful thoughts and beliefs that can contribute to burnout in the helping field, which include:
  • The needs of others take priority over my own
  • If I don't do it, nobody will
  • Self care is selfish when so many are in need
  • Setting boundaries with others means I am rude or uncaring
  • Feeling this way means I'm doing something wrong or I'm not trying hard enough
Meg talks a little bit about how these thoughts can be harmful (and sneaky!) and offers up some positive reframes/thought challenges you can use to stop being an asshole to yourself and start treating yourself like a human with emotions instead.
