चिन्तनस्य विषयः तु ......

कदाचित् अश्वम् आरुह्य गच्छन्तौ गुरुशिष्यौ रात्रिवेलायां कस्मिंश्चित् जीर्णगृहे वासं कृतवन्तौ । अश्वः वृक्षे बद्धः अस्ति । तं रक्षतु ।  अहं निद्रां करोमि । निद्रानिवारणाय किमपि चिन्तयन् भवतु' इति गुरुः अवदत् । तथैव शिष्यः अकरोत् । मध्ये मध्ये गुरुः उत्थाय पृच्छति किं चिन्तयन् अस्ति, तदा शिष्यः अवदत् - नक्षत्राणि स्वयमेव उत्पन्नानि उत केनचित् स्थापितानि इति, समुद्रजलं स्वयमेव लवणमयं जातम् उत कोऽपि समुद्रे लवणं योजितवान् इति च । उषःकाले गुरुणा पृष्टे तदा शिष्यः वदति - वृक्षे बद्धः अश्वः न दृश्यते । सः स्वयमेव बन्धनात् विमुक्तः जातः उत कोऽपि तम् उन्मोच्य नीतवान् इति । तस्य अविवेकं दृष्ट्वा हसनीयम् उत विषादः प्रकटनीयः इति अजानन् गुरुः मौनम् आश्रितवान् ।

Once, a Guru and his student were traveling on horseback and decided to stay in a hut for the night. The horse was tied to a tree. The Guru said, ‘Guard it. I will sleep. Think of something to stay awake’. The student did as told. During the night, the Guru woke up occasionally and asked what the student was thinking about. The student responded with thoughts like whether the stars appeared on their own or someone placed them, and whether the sea became salty on its own or someone added salt to it. At dawn, the Guru asked again, and the student said, ‘The horse tied to the tree is not visible. Did it free itself or did someone untie it and take it away?’ Seeing the student's lack of wisdom, the Guru was unsure whether to laugh or be sad, and remained silent.

What is बालमोदिनी?

सम्भाषणसन्देशः इति संस्कृतमासिकपत्रिका (https://sambhashanasandesha.in) । एतस्यां पत्रिकायां प्रकाशिताः लेखाः, कथाः, बालकथाः, वार्ताः इत्यादिकं सर्वम् अपि सरलसंस्कृतेन एव प्रकाश्यते । तत्रत्याः “बालमोदिनी”नामिकाः बालकथाः अत्र प्रसार्यन्ते । अतः अस्याः शृङ्खलायाः नाम अपि “बालमोदिनी” एव । लघु गात्रं, सरला भाषा च कथानां विशेषः । प्रत्येकं कथा काञ्चित् नीतिं बोधयति । बालकथाः आबालवृद्धं सर्वेषां प्रियाः । संस्कृतेन ताः श्रोतुम् उपलब्धाः भवन्तु इति एषः प्रयत्नः श्रोतृभ्यः अवश्यं रोचेत इति विश्वासः । संस्कृतक्षेत्रे संस्कृतेन पॉड्कास्ट् क्रियमाणाः एताः प्रप्रथमाः कथाः इति सगौरवम् उद्घोष्यते ।
