Johnson City Living

Today’s show features my chat with Jack Rhea. Jack is a Johnson City native and has made a name for himself as a standout golfer as a junior golfer, then in high school at Science Hill, and has spent the last three years on the nationally recognized ETSU men’s golf team.
Even though his junior year was cut short by a global pandemic, Jack won the individual title at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate, where he shot a 63 to help nail down his win. Jack is also getting ready to make his second appearance in the US Amateur Championship, which is being played at Bandon Dunes in Oregon in early August. Two years ago, Jack shot a 69 in the US Amateur at Pebble Beach to earn a spot in the match play event.
If you don’t follow golf, qualifying for the US Amateur is a really big deal, and shooting 69 at Pebble Beach is extraordinary.
In today’s interview we’re talking about how Jack got started playing golf, how he handled the abrupt end of his junior season, what his thoughts are about making a run at turning pro, and we even dive into how he’s been spending his time in quarantine.
